Project Introduction

The North Tahoe Regional Park is an example of one of our sports facility projects. Along with this project, we have also designed several other athletic fields and facilities for Bear River Recreation District, Incline Village General Improvement District, and for the Black Oak Mine School District. The site is located in Tahoe Vista a mile north of Highway 28 and a mile west of Highway 267. The developed recreational area of the park covers 124 acres and is surrounded by forested public lands on three sides. F.C.E. was commissioned to design the all-weather artificial turf soccer field and parking area.

Site Design

The soccer field was designed with artificial turf to create a durable, long-lasting, and low-maintenance recreational addition to the park. Careful consideration was given to the base grading of the field and the overall site drainage. F.C.E. will perform extensive hydrology studies of sites when necessary to ensure that offsite drainage or erosion does not affect any project engineering. The soccer field can serve as one long playing field for full-field games or as two short fields for cross play.

Project Uniqueness

The installation of this artificial turf playing field increases public use of the park land, improving the quality of life in the Tahoe Vista and neighboring towns, as well as increasing the market value of the area. It is also much more environmentally friendly than a grass field. The turf is a pervious surface that allows moisture to pass through to the aggregate ground layer, does not require watering to maintain, and therefore does not produce excess run-off in the Tahoe Basin. As soon as the snow has melted the field is ready to use, increasing the playing season duration.

Project Management

Our company assembled all bid documents for this project and managed the bid phase. The construction of the North Tahoe Regional Park soccer field was monitored and inspected to ensure that the land development procedures specified by F.C.E. were followed in order to prevent erosion, vegetation damage, and proper handling of all site drainage. We specialize in land management and the level of quality we aspire to can be seen in all of our projects. We work closely with all contracting companies to ensure satisfaction in every aspect of a job as well as reasonable expectations for our designs. The site grading for this project was surveyed throughout the construction process to ensure a quality playing field and minimized maintenance over the years.

F.C.E.

This project was funded on grants from the California State Parks, Placer County and the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association and we enjoy working with local agencies on community improvement projects such as these. We have also designed other sports facilities for Bear River Recreation District, Incline Village General Improvement District, and for the Black Oak Mine School District.
