Ruvo Pier

Project Introduction
The Ruvo pier has been constructed in the Glenbrook subdivision of east Lake Tahoe. The project is an example of one of our many pier projects. We generally design 5 to 10 piers per year for Tahoe residents and have also designed several the U.S. Forest Service piers including Roundhill Pines Marina pier and the Zephyr Cove structural pier retrofit. The Ruvo project also included a staircase leading down the heavily vegetated embankment.
Site Design
The design of this pier, and our many other pier projects, involved a survey of high and low water lines, pier placement, analysis of loading from boat lifts, and structural engineering of the pier and embankment staircase. The Ruvo design also incorporates lighting along the length of the pier.
Project Uniqueness
Our firm generally designs and permits multiple pier projects each summer. We work with local contractors who are highly experienced. We can design a pier to meet any need. Some of our piers have been designed for commercial use where phone, internet, and power were an aspect of the pier design. We also include boat lifts, adjustable landings and lighting into the majority of our piers.
Project Management
We work closely with clients and builders on each pier project to ensure satisfaction with the final product. We also provide a final inspection of the pier pilings to make sure that our structural requirements are met. Each pier is unique and we are well equipped to handle any installation issues.

F.C.E. has designed many piers around Lake Tahoe. We have designed Forest Service piers for Zephyr Cove and Roundhill Pines along with shoreline erosion/rehabilitation plans. We also design private residence piers that incorporate a range of features including boat lifts for loads up to 12,000 lbs., lighting, adjustable landings, pier access, and shorezone revetments.
